About the Big Bash League teams

The Big Bash League is built around eight city-based franchises spread across Australia. Two cities field two teams each - Melbourne has the Stars and the Renegades, and Sydney has the Sixers and the Thunder - which gives the competition its fiercest derbies. Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobart round out the map, so nearly every corner of the country has a side to follow.

Most successful franchises

The Perth Scorchers are the benchmark, with more titles than any other BBL team and a long record of deep finals runs. The Sydney Sixers have been the other dominant force in recent seasons, while the Brisbane Heat, Sydney Thunder, Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades have all lifted the trophy at least once. The Hobart Hurricanes broke through for their first title in the 2024-25 season.

Following your team

T20 form turns quickly, so squads reshuffle between seasons as overseas stars and local talent come and go. Home venues matter too - grounds like Perth Stadium, the SCG and the Gabba each play differently, which shapes how teams are built. With one Big Bash Cricket ID you can follow every franchise across the season - check the standings, stats and schedule as it unfolds. Content is for information only. 18+, play responsibly.
